Asthma acting up

I woke up this morning breathless...I realised I have lost my ventolin inhaler and ran out of Singular tablets...I was about to change into work clothes when I paused for a moment to think that I better not take the chance. My health is more important. Saw the doctor. The medical bill amounts to 71 bucks. I depend on Singular tablets alot although they cost a bomb. 10 tablets for 21 bucks. :(

When I needed you the most....you just died on me...

My laptop (fujitsu)

It has been around for the past 5 years, still surviving even after it's battery life has ended and the careless me dropping the laptop twice onto hard ground. I rely so much on my laptop these days to complete my TMAs (tutor-marked assignments), update my blog, chat with friends on MSN, pay creditcard bills with internet banking and ocassionally watch online movies. Now I have to reformat it over again just to reboot this 'baby' of mine. Mr New laptop ( a HP mini-notebook) will come in in just two days delivered to my doorstep. I can't wait for the day to arrive.

I met up with my Economics module project mates. We completed our group assignment in just one afternoon. Of course, some more editing needs to be done...all three looked at me and said...since you are an EL teacher, why don't you do the proof-reading? I had no choice but said yes. While I was busy with my discussion and squeezing my brain juices out, Nic and Dearie were waiting for me at another table. Dearie was reading up his for his insurance exam coming up on Tues and Nic was doing her homework as well. A big alphabet book my uncle Thomas bought her recently.

The weather was just so nice to have a nap...both of them fell asleep admist the rest of the students who were busy with their assignments and project discussion. Nic slept in her pram while Dearie let his head rest on the table. I should have taken a pic of them sleeping...what a waste!

Now, I am using his laptop while both of them are enjoying themselves at Aison's birthday party. I am alone in the room burying myself yet again with dozens of books and notes, preparing for another 2000-word essay on bilingualism. Alritey, enough said, I have to end my crap here and get back to work. Adieus!

Home Sweet Home

I am back at my mom's place this week. The other half of mine is currently stuck in some jungle out there serving his reservist. Another reason is because Nic's playgroup class has 10 cases of HFMD. I was paranoid when her teacher broke the news to me on Monday when I was there to pick little Nic up. She said the centre will only close when they have a record of 14 cases. I gave her a disbelieving look and said isn't it unsafe for the remaining kids still faithfully attending school considering the fact that the deadly virus may still be in the air and the bacteria is still hiding in some corner no matter how many times you make the children wash their hands or mop the classroom a zillion-and-one times? I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I am craving for fine French cuisine at APS (Au Petit Salut @ Dempsey)! 29 August, Friday. I've placed a booking for 5-and-a-baby. Anyone else wanna join us? You're welcome. Our usual Friday meet ups has turned into some Aunty Fridays' day instead! I love the getaway to a nice cosy place for lunch or hi-tea...knowing that I would be 'simmered' into the presence of good company of friends as well as good food.

If you'd ask me, I was initially disturbed by some uninvited guests dropping by just to post some nasty and untrue remarks about me. Hey, I am paid to teach, not paid to listen to silly stories about so-and-so did something to so-and-so. It just tires me out having to be a middle-man for all sorts of problems faced by these beings. Oh, I like the idea of having a tag board and have no intention of taking it down. I am clear in my conscience and I don't have to go about explaining it to mindless, brainless beings when they have absolutely no idea what kind of trouble they are up to. I shall not waste my time entertaining these puerile beings who think they are fully grown-ups, acting as though they have seen-it-all and that the whole world owes them a living. It just goes to show that these puerile beings venting the oh-so-limited vocabulary of theirs, exposing their ugly side of themselves without realising that with the so advanced technology, they could be reported, tracked down and be punished by the law. Well, perhaps they are really testing the authorities with their prowess as 'public speakers' in blogs...Get a life lah!

Yikes, I have 3 more days of counting window panes in the school hall, if you know what I mean. At the end of the day, I will be $220 richer...Good money? considerably good for doing nothing. Hee!

Essential Make-Up Tips: Contouring

Bronzing!

Being dumb for a silly reason...

Oh lovely! Fancy having such 'nice' remarks about me on my tagboard...and oh! what colourful and explosive Engrish too! (pun-intended) ha! Like Maria said, they are emotional kids. I was reminded of stella's cyberbullying lesson. And yes...that is what speaks of it. C'mon, I don't need a fan club like some people do. My reason for having this blog is a personal update of my family and my life especially written for my daughter, Nicole. I am contemplating of pulling out the tagboard...not fearing these stupid comments, but it's just an eyesore, don't ya think?

29 July 2008
Eileen's Birthday Dinner
With Nicole, Dearie, Evelyn
Venue: Japanese Sun Dining @ Chijmes
30 Victoria Street
#02-01
Singapore 187996

This was my first visit to Sun Dining @ Chijmes. I have been to the one at Wheelock and I must say that the food served at Sun Dining is absolutely fresh and good. Price was reasonable enough for the quality of food served.

While Eileen was waiting for us to arrive, she ordered the Salmon Belly Salad first. This was awesome. The salmon belly just gently slipped right into your throat. Juicy!

Cheese Glaced Baked Scallops....Yummy!

I ordered my usual cold soba....I like the presentation of the food. It really just make the overall appearance of the food served looked fantastic. It does make a difference!

Eileen's Hokkaido Ramen...tasty soup!

Chicken Teriyaki to accompany my cold soba

Fanciful presentation...Evelyn's beef bowl

Next Stop: Laurent's Cafe & Chocolate Bar
The Pier at Robertson Quay 80
Mohammad Sultan Road #01-11
Singapore(239013)

After dinner, we quickly adjourned to Robertson walk for desserts
at Laurent Bernand Chocolatier. Ruth joined us and we celebrated Eileen's birthday with a slice flourless cake we ordered.

It was quite a letdown when our chocolate drinks came and to our dismay the chocolate drink was too powdery for us to consume. Considering the price and quality, I swear that was my last visit there!

Flourless Chocolate Cake with vanilla icecream which was nothing to 'wow' about.

My Apologies: This is a foodie post. No pictures of 'humans' because the pics in my camera were not uploaded yet. Some day perhaps!Oops!

TIRED is the word...

TIRED

Reason: I am down for GCE 'O' Levels English Oral Exam duty from 12 August till 25 August and that is 10 days. My duty: Timekeeping. Basically, I need to keep time for each candidate to prepare his reading passage and picture description for 10 minutes. I have 12 candidates each day and so that equals to 120 minutes which is 2 hours of 'doing nothing' but watching the stopwatch and keeping time! I was so bored I started counting the number of wall fans in the school hall. Yes yes, I am paid of course but miserably...haha...guessed $22 per two hours is still not as 'attractive' as it seems to be. Sigh. There were a few times I actually dozed off while the candidate in front of me was intensely reading through his lines aloud. There was Kenneth the joker, who actually knew I was so bored, after he had done his preparation in just a few minutes, he entertained me by reading his passage aloud to me in his Hong Kong accent. He is just so funny!

Wednesday and Thursday evenings are lecture days...with all that, at the end of the day, I would feel so lethargic that when I returned home, I would just go to bed after my shower. (which is the reason why you don't see me online these days)

Work is piling up, assignments deadline is nearing and I still have yet to meet him for my work review session.

He had learnt about it from 'you-know-who' and he asked me 'Why ah?'...I was dumbfounded at first and quickly said I needed a change. From his tone, I could just guessed as much that he wasn't really expecting this from me.

I have lots of backdated posts with many pictures awaiting...I just couldn't find the time. Sorry to keep you waiting and waiting and waiting. :)
